They say you never get a second chance at a first impression—and that’s exactly how we felt every time we pulled into the driveway. The interior of our home had been lovingly curated over time, each room filled with pieces that felt like us. But the outside? It was flat, forgettable, and frankly—tired. That’s when we made the decision to invest in something we’d never fully prioritized before: exteriors remodeling.
What followed was more than a renovation. It was a redefinition—of our home’s presence, of our style, and of how we saw the space we called our own.
Rediscovering Beauty in the Bones
Our house had good structure—classic lines, solid materials, a roofline that hinted at potential. But the original siding had faded, the trim lacked contrast, and the landscaping no longer framed the architecture with intention.
We started by asking one question: What do we want our home to say—before anyone even walks through the door?
The answer was clear: timeless, curated, confident.

Elevating With the Right Materials
In every Sarah Richardson project, materials matter. For our exterior remodel, we chose a soft white fiber cement siding—a crisp canvas that instantly modernized the facade without feeling trendy. We added natural wood soffits in a warm cedar tone to introduce warmth and organic texture, and used matte black trim for contrast and sophistication.
Every finish was chosen with intention. We didn’t just want new—we wanted a sense of permanence, of belonging.
The front door became a focal point: a custom-built arched entry in natural oak, oiled to a soft sheen that glowed at golden hour. It welcomed without shouting.

The Impact of Details
Lighting played a subtle but essential role. We opted for clean-lined sconces in aged brass that cast a soft, downward glow. House numbers were custom-cut in a minimalist font—floating against the siding like understated jewelry.
We added wide-format pavers in creamy limestone to redefine the front walkway, bordered by lavender and ornamental grasses for a layered, modern garden that felt relaxed and lived-in.
It wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about how it felt to arrive home.
More Than Curb Appeal
The result? A space that felt whole for the first time. Neighbors slowed down. Guests commented before they even rang the bell. And we found ourselves spending more time outside—sipping coffee on the porch, reading in the evening light, lingering a little longer before heading inside.
Exteriors remodeling didn’t just change how our house looked. It changed how we lived in it.
